Head Coach - Part Time Big Spring Aquatic Club

Salary: $12-16/hour (depending on experience and level of commitment)

Swimming (coaching and/or competing): 4 years (Preferred)

The Big Spring Aquatics Club, a recreational swim team, is seeking a qualified Head Swim Coach for our 2019 Spring/Summer swim season. We are looking for a Head Coach that is motivated to build upon and improve a strong pre-existing swim team. Applicants should be willing to focus on technique as well as be excited to work with kids ages 5-18. The Head Coach would work directly with the existing Co-Head Coach in running daily practices and coming up with weekly lesson plans.

Starting in May, and lasting through the end of July, practices will run 4 or 5 nights a week, late afternoon into early evening hours (Approx. 5pm to 7pm). Meets occur on most Saturday mornings in June and July. We do offer morning clinics (M, W, F) during the summer months (starting after the end of school year). We may be able to offer some flexibility for work schedules for the right candidate.

Average weekly hours for May are 12.5 hours per week (M-F, 5:00-7:00 pm).
Average weekly hours June and July are 24 hours per week. (M-TH 5-7:00pm) (M, W, F; 6-8:00am)- Saturday meets.

A quality applicant would possess many (or all) of the following attributes:

  • Interested in also coaching our winter team (November-February)

  • Availability to attend most practices and Saturday meets

  • Charisma and excitement about coaching children and young adults

  • Prior swimming experience

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Ability to motivate and inspire youth

  • Current CPR/First Aid or Lifeguard Certification a plus (Not a Requirement)

  • Background and fingerprint check REQUIRED (cost of test to be paid for by team)

Head Coach- Part Time Lebanon Valley Family YMCA

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the swim team coach manages the swim team in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the YMCA of the USA, USA swimming and the Lebanon Valley Family YMCA. Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for swim team participants. Attends all swim meet and team functions throughout the year as well as being responsible for creating and maintaining a safe environment for members and participants. Bachelor’s Degree preferred and current lifeguard certification necessary as well as 2 years competitive coaching experience. Salary range:  $27,000 to $30,000 per year.

Assistant Coach Mechanicsburg Swim Club

The Mechanicsburg Swim Club is looking for assistant coaches for the 2019 Summer season.  We are looking for:

  • Experienced coach to run morning practice daily at the outdoor pool. Evening practice opportunities available.

  • Individual interested in working with our pre-competitive swimmers 2-3 times per week

  • Assistant coaches available evenings and weekend 

• At least 18 years of age
• The ability to effectively collaborate with other coaches, board members, parents, and swimmers in a professional manner
• State and Federal clearances

Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum of high school competitive swimming experience
• Previous coaching experience
• Ability to work with all age groups (8U – 18U)
• Current certification or willingness to become certified: CPR/AED/First Aid/Safety Training for Swim Coaches and lifeguarding

• Lead swimmers through age appropriate workouts focusing on technique, endurance, stroke development, starts, turns, etc
• Encourage team unity
• Attend meets, meetings, invitationals, etc
